Strickland Services Delivers Critical COVID-19 Relief to Communities

How we mobilized comprehensive support for over 5,000 families during the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic

COVID-19 Relief Distribution

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck Nigeria in early 2020, the impact on local communities was immediate and devastating. Recognizing our responsibility as a leading maritime services provider with deep community ties, Strickland Services quickly mobilized a comprehensive relief program that would ultimately support over 5,000 families across our operational areas.

Swift Response to Crisis

Within weeks of the first lockdown measures, our Corporate Social Responsibility team, led by our Corporate Service Manager, launched the COVID-19 Community Relief Program. This initiative focused on three critical areas: food security, medical supplies, and health education.

Program Highlights

  • 5,000+ families supported
  • 15,000+ food packages distributed
  • 10,000+ masks and sanitizers provided
  • 50+ community health education sessions

Multi-Location Impact

Our relief efforts extended across our primary operational areas, ensuring no community was left behind:

Onne, Rivers State

Our primary base, where we established the main distribution center and conducted regular relief distributions.

Lagos State

Targeted support for maritime communities affected by port restrictions and reduced economic activity.

Port Harcourt

Extended our reach to urban communities facing severe economic hardship during lockdowns.

Beyond Emergency Relief

While immediate relief was crucial, we recognized the need for sustainable support. Our program evolved to include skills training for alternative livelihoods, small business support for women, and educational resources for children learning from home.

"The pandemic tested our community resilience, but it also demonstrated the power of partnership and collective action. Strickland Services didn't just provide relief; they stood with us as partners in recovery."
— Community Leader, Onne

Lasting Impact and Lessons

The COVID-19 relief program strengthened our commitment to community partnership and informed our ongoing CSR initiatives. The relationships built and systems established during this crisis continue to support our current community development programs.

Today, as we reflect on this challenging period, we're proud of the role we played in supporting our communities. The program exemplifies our core values and reinforces our belief that business success must go hand-in-hand with community prosperity.
